Lil Rough Animation

I don't know, but I think only I would think of doing a rough animation as a winding down from the day. ^_^

So this was Step 1 in animating something completely in ToonBoom... Good god I wish ToonBoom would treat the pencil and paintbrush tools the way Photoshop does instead of this awful solid brush stroke.

Eye of the Turkey Anamatic

I found this while cleaning out space on my harddrive. Ahhh, this was so much fun and so much uncertainty at the moment. But once I got a clear view in my head, it all came together!

Demo Reel

So I made a quick demo reel of some of the stuff I've made over the past few years. I love animating. I loved staying up days on end just to get projects done and I hope that this will be something I will be doing for a living.

Google Sketch Up Awesomness!

Been playing with Google SketchUp and I must say that it's fun as hell. Other then a few annoyances with shortcut keys and the rotate the world tool, it's a great program. I LOVE THE TAPE MEASURE! OMG! If Maya could have one of these it would be AWESOME!

So, started out with a Victorian style house as my introduction into the world of Sketch Up. Found the picture of the house online and just eyeballed it.

Next up I took a few measurements of my own house and started building away. Everything is to scale and since everything was simple geometry, it was easy to build. The only thing I didn't make was the computer screen, mouse, and the keyboard that's on the floor.

Next up in the house came the bedrooms. The walls still aren't up, but that's because they will be the last to be placed in. My room is the one on the right-front with the single bed and art table in it. The dressers were a bit of a hassle to get down, but they're done!

Finally, the bathroom... again no walls yet.

Overall, I'm begining to think that perhaps I should have become an architect instead of an animator. I truely am enjoying building stuff in programs like Maya and now Sketch Up.

Rough Animation

Finally finished my student film. WHOOO!!!!! Only thing left is to adjust a few colors and sound. And then finally, put it on a reel and some film festivals so I can get my stuff out there! Wish me luck!

Anyways, after having finished everything I was left with this need to start animating again, and made this. Just some really rough and quick animation for the character Mako of Nick's Legend of Korra. It was fun.I should probably make some more.

No, I don't work for Nick (maybe, hopefully, someday I will...) and this was just done for the heck of it. I just needed to animate and this is what happened

So the animation was done in Photoshop (never tried this before...) and brought all the layers into After Effects. It was an odd way (I think) of animating. I prefer to draw on paper, but seeing as how I don't have a lunchbox to check the animation, I figured, I could just use the layers like paper and just put it all together in AE. And it worked. This was pretty cool. ^_^

The Horrors of Inbedded Layers

OMG! I've only just begun to put things in and already it's already this scary looking. I still have a good 10+ berries to add and then 5 animation layers!

And of course, we gotta keep things clean and organized within the Network panel... or else things are going to get dicey and horribly wrong fast.

And the final tree for the shot! It's not that bad as long as you keep everything in order ^_^

More Doodles

The shorter of the two hens, Salope, was originally going to be a rooster... Unfortunately there was much conflict with that at the end of the story and thus I ended up choosing another hen for this. Poor Elvis the Rooster never made the final cut for the film. And he was so suave too!

"WTF?!" Moment Build-Up

YA! Student film finally coming together!!!

And here we have Tina (the taller hen) and Salope (the smaller one) evolving like Pokemon from the earliest doodles to what the final color and composition will end up looking like. It's interesting to see how things developed from the earliest concept sketches to the final version.

The fist rough of the storyboard. So much has changed since then!

Character roughs composited over the final background layout!

My initial color study with quickly composited characters and background.

And the final colors for both hens and background!

I love the background!!! Unfortunately, the guy who designed and colored it for me doesn't think it's all that great.

Storyboard Frame

"I'd fight off giant bears and kill them too." - Alley Kerr (The Sore Feet Song)

A very quick storyboard sketch based off a song lyric. Poor bear is going to get wasted by that dude walking a thousand miles to get to the love of his life.

The Sketchbook Society

So a few weeks ago I was visiting friends at school and we decided to create a weekly themed blog to keep us all sketching/doodling/drawing. We came up with The Sketchbook Society. Each week we will be tackling on a new challenge! This last week was Breakfast!

More Casual Sketching

So I haven't been around posting for a long time and decided to dump a few doodles here. Nothing too special.
