Grocery Tote

I decided to make myself a grocery tote using one item from each section of the food pyramid.

 Initial sketches

 Illustrator file

Pulled the images into Photoshop and arranged them

I think I should have tried to get it silk screened instead of using an iron on. *sigh*

The Jumping Cow

Watercolor picture of a cow jumping over the moon. Used really baby/pastel type colors. It's cute.

Illustrator Designs Process

This wasn't really a well planed out project I did. It was was rather impromptu. It started out with the quick sketches below and found myself compelled to flush them out and finish them up. I guess I'm going to end up using them as stickers for my little sister. Either way, it was fun and got me back into working with Illustrator and Photoshop. The characters themselves are from a T.V. series called Gundam Wing, I just made them smaller and cute.

Started out with some doodles with a broken tablet. Well, not exactly broken... just an old one that doesn't register my swift movements very well, hence the images are so jittery. But I kinnda like them this way, they have a certain charm to them.

Flushed out and defined the sketches.

Pulled the drawings into Illustrator and did all the coloring there. Started out with flats and then added gradients as needed.

Finally, I pulled the images into Photoshop and touched up a few colors and objects. Also adding the backgrounds.

Gundam Deathscythe Hell Custom model

Yay! Still chugging along with my Maya model of the Gundam Deathscythe Hell Custom. Got the body and scythe done. I've lost track of how long it's taken to build it simple because I'm working on other more important things and only touch this when I have down time. Either way, I love building things with Maya. It's fun and I like the challenge of figuring out how to get things done.

The main body and the scythe off to the side

Overhead view of the chest area, the head, and shoulders.

The hands. Wow, these were difficult to put together. I spent days trying to find reference images with the hands. I never noticed it before, but each Gundam series has a different way of drawing/making the hands. I finally found a reference to the hand in the Gundam Wing Technical Manual. Unfortunately, half way through building it I realized that there was no way in HELL that the mechanics/physics behind the hand were gonna work. Eventually, I ended up tweaking it the best I could while keeping to the original.

The waist area. The elbow joints was also somewhat difficult to understand and needed creative tweaking as well.

The knee area! Katoki's design was quite a challenge. Wrapping the knee part around the front of the upper leg was interesting. It took a while, but I finally got some understanding of it.

And finally, the back of the knees. Yup, more creative tweaking to the joint in order to make it work.

So now it's on to building the Deathscythe's wings... Just looking at images of it is making my head hurt. Those things are REALLY going to be a challenge to build.

Storyboards

Been learning how to read scripts and interpret them into storyboard form. This one is from the opening paragraph of the "Brothers Grimm" from 2005 script. Funny enough I had never watched it before, so this was a perfect starting exercise. I watched the opening after making this and was happy to see it felt just as creepy feeling and pretty mysterious as the movie.

Girl Piggie Doodles!

I found these and cleaned them up a little in Photoshop. I loved this girl piggie (she never got a name). She was adorable and it was fun to draw her.

More Animation Time!

More animation from my animation archive! These are somewhat cleaned up clips of my animation from my Junior year film. For Jr. year, we had to work together as a group and create a a film. The point of this was simply to teach us how to work together and learn the animation pipeline.

For this film, I was character designer for the first semester. Since I had helped the Juniors from the year before, I didn't have to participate in the second semester, but I did anyways. I helped animate a few scenes and after somewhat being cleaned up, this is what turned out.

Piggie Romance

A short I did last year (2 at the most). The exercise was simply to create an action-reaction scene. It was fun, and if I can find the original character sheets I'll upload them too! All I remember about this time was that I was supper bouncy and happy (like the girl piggie!), which seems to have helped create this lil piece!

Then of course, just for the hell of it, I made a color study of the last scene because I loved it so much! I loved how happy the little girl piggie looked. She's so CUTE!!!

IT'S A GUNDAM!

Been working on making a gundam in Maya for a while know. I think I've worked on it for a whole of about 5 days. It's been fun and I've been become so comfortable on using Maya. Once I get the modeling part of it done, I'll be looking up more tutorials to get the thing rigged.

The Gates of Versailles

Made while I was learning Maya for the first time (from Aug.- Dec. of 2010). For some reason I was obsessed about making the original gates of Versailles for my Maya class. I was able to find a grainy, front view, image of what it used to look like before being torn down during the French Revolution in order to start modeling. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to decipher much of the drawing and made some of it up as I went along.

I LOVED this little detail on the either side of the gate. It looked to be some sort of (maybe) globe of the earth that was being held up by flourishes of some sort and the sun above it with some sort of draping hanging from the top.  It was so much fun to build.

The sad part for me (like all other students) I didn't have the time I would have wanted to work on this. I'm thinking I'm gonna redo this someday just for the hell of it. But mostly because I now know better methods for creating the shapes and pieces.

Day 1

Awesomeness... I finally have a blog spot. Let's see how this turns out ^_^
